Andrew Davinack received a B.S. in Biology from St. John’s University, a M.S. in Biology from Hofstra University and a Ph.D. in Zoology from Stellenbosch University. Drew worked as an assistant professor at Clarkson University in upstate New York from 2015-2022, and is now a faculty member in the Biology Department at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. He is a marine biologist who conducts ecological and evolutionary research on marine invertebrates with a particular focus on polychaetes. At Wheaton College, he teaches courses in Introductory Biology, Biological Data Analysis, Genetics, Parasitology, Ecology of Infectious Diseases, Invertebrate Zoology and Molecular Ecology. Drew has authored more than 30 research articles, and currently serves on the editorial board of the journals BioInvasion Records, Aquatic Invasions and ZooKeys. He has received research and teaching grants from the Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative, the Nantucket Shellfish Association, the Wellfleet Oyster Alliance, the New York Great Lakes Consortium, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Sea Grant Program, the St. Lawrence River Research & Education Fund, the London Malacological Society and the National Science Foundation. He is also a certified senior ecologist at the Ecological Society of America.

Drew is married with two cats (Firebolt and Severus) and lives in Providence, Rhode Island. He is an active martial artist, practicing a variety of disciplines including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Iaido and Muay Thai. In his free time when he isn’t fighting, in the lab or teaching, he enjoys everything horror-related (movies, novels, decorations, etc.), hiking, jazz and enjoying living in the ocean state.
