Import a Pressbooks File<\/h1>\r\nOne way to pull an existing open textbook into a Pressbooks account is by importing the Pressbooks file of the textbook. Before you begin, you will need an existing book shell to import the content into. (See Add a New Book<\/a>.) Make sure to request a book site by filling out the OpenPress Site Registration Request Form.<\/a>\r\n

Where to Find a Pressbooks File<\/h1>\r\nYou will need to download the Pressbooks file (.xml) of the textbook that you want to import to your computer.\r\n\r\nOnce you access the online version of the book, its Pressbooks file can be found as follows:\r\n

  1. Open the \u201cDownload this book\u201d drop-down list under the book\u2019s cover photo<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Select the Pressbooks XML file from the drop-down list and save it to your computer\"""\"<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

    <\/h1>\r\nYou can also import a Pressbook webbook (or web page) using a URL (web address). Before you begin, you will need an existing book shell to import the content into. (See Add a New Book<\/a>.)\r\n\r\nTo use this feature:\r\n

    1. Select the Import<\/strong> tab from the Dashboard menu<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n \t
    2. Select \"Web page or Pressbooks webbook (.html or URL)\" from the Import Type drop-down list<\/li>\r\n \t
    3. Select \"Import from URL\" as the Import Source.<\/li>\r\n \t
    4. Enter the URL in the available field. If importing a Pressbook, use the URL of the webbook<\/strong>'s homepage.<\/li>\r\n \t
    5. Click \"Begin Import.\"<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\"""\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nIf importing a Pressbook webbook, the rest of the import process is the same as that for importing a Pressbooks\/WordPress file<\/a>.\r\n
