Publishing Your Book

Once you have completed your book and are ready to publish, you are required to

  1. Have at least two colleagues review your text*.
  2. Complete this form.

Administrators will notify you when your book/site is published. You can view your published site in the OpenPress Catalog and continue to edit it from your dashboard.

*Prior to Publication: The following list of suggestions and questions for reviewers is not exhaustive and has been informed by previous OpenPress authors.

  • Review the table of contents for inconsistencies.
  • Proofread for typos and other errors.
  • Does the textbook cover the topic comprehensively for undergrads?
  • Are any key concepts missing? Is the content aligned with current research?
  • Are terms, definitions used consistently throughout the textbook?
  • Are explanations clear and free of jargon that might confuse students?
  • Does the content follow a logical progressive?
  • Are chapters structured with clear learning objectives and summaries at the end?
  • If relevant, are there case studies and questions that stimulate critical thinking?
  • Is there an awareness of accessibility (e.g. are technical terms or advanced topics explained in a way that students from different backgrounds can understand?)
  • Do illustrations, graphs and tables support text and are they easily interpretable?
